Vence (Vincent, Vencent) Pope Jr. (81) of Providence, Rhode Island passed away on February 12, 2020 at home. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Nancy (Husband) Pope. Born in Shelby, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Vence Pope Sr. and Mason (Sowell) Pope. A retired construction worker (Steel) for Cardi corporation. He was a long time writer and researcher of religious studies.
In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his children; Dawn Galbreath of North Carolina, Christopher Husband, Jonathan Pope, Karima Pope-Robinson, and Abdul Pope all of Providence, Rhode Island. The eldest of 13; he leaves his surviving siblings Riley Pope, Movena Pope, Gloria Snell Bailey, Marcella Pope, Joseph Correria, Wendy Burrell, Linwood Jones, and Daniel Jones all of Providence, Rhode Island. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Modena Graham, Walter Pope, Howard Pope, and Donald Pope.
He leaves 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and loved ones.

A service to celebrate Vence's life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, 833 Eddy Street from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
